AWR2243: SOP pins handling

Expert 7150 points
Part Number: AWR2243

Hi Experts,

My customer is trying to build their own cascade radar board.

Per AWR2243 datasheet, "The SOP pins are driven externally (weak drive)". What is the specific resistance value for PU / PD?

Per MMW_CAS_RF_EVM schematics, SOP2(PMIC_CLKOUT) is pull down with 10K ohm on RF board. But SOP0/1 is connected to DSP board through 10K ohm register. Is it necessary to set H / L drive at startup on the HOST and Hi-Z after SOP sampling is completed?

Best regards,
Ken

  • Hi,

The HW team will review your question and get back to you

    thank you

  • Hello Ken,

The SOP pins must be set to the appropriate state (pull low or pull high) via a series resister (example 10Kohms) before the AWR device powers up. This could be done either by having the resisters to gnd/supply on the board OR connected to the host processor where the processor sets the pin low/high.

If customer wants to use multiple SOP modes, then having the control from the host processor is recommended so that they can change the SOP mode via software instead of changing hardware.

    Regards,
    Vivek
