DRV425: sensing low currents

Part Number: DRV425
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV401

Hi, is it possible or reasonable to measure current in the range of 1-10mA with Fluxgate-Sensors (DRV4xx) ?  EB

  • Hello EB,

I believe that the one that is more likely possible  DRV401 as it is the most flexible mechanically to get all the magnetics in place but this would require so much magnetic expertise to get it to work and it would still be a challenge.  The flux-gate and compensation core and how they couple with each other would need to be design.   There is also the challenge with the number of winding on the compensation coil and inductance required to keep the loop stable.  It may not be worth the effort.  The other devices will not work for such low currents and the mechanical limitations of coupling the magnetic field to the flux-gate sensor in the device.
