BOOSTXL-TUSS4470: Consult on the capability of this device

Part Number: BOOSTXL-TUSS4470
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSS4470

Hi there,

I'm searching for an ultrasound evaluation kit that can support following capabilities:

1) High sampling frequency (~50kHz to 1MHz)

2) Complete customization of the Tx burst signal (frequency modulation, time duration)

3) Accessability of the Rx raw signal.

After going over several TI ultrasound products, it seems BOOSTXL-TUSS4470 fulfills the above requirements. But before purchase, still want to have a solid confirm from your side.

Expecting your response, many thanks!

  • Yanbo,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions.

TUSS4470 has an acceptable transducer frequency range of 40 kHz to 1 MHz.

The device also has 4 different burst modes:

    • Mode 0 = Burst is enabled through CMD_TRIGGER bit, IO2 falling edge triggers bursts up to the preset count
    • Mode 1 = Burst is enabled through IO1, IO2 falling edge triggers bursts up to the preset count
    • Mode 2 = Burst is enabled by falling edge of either IO1 or IO2.  Bursts are triggered by falling edge of either IO1 or IO2 using a non-overlap pattern.  This mode requires both IO1 and IO2 to be high to disable burst.
    • Mode 3 = Burst is enabled through IO2.  IO2 falling edge triggers bursts up to the preset count

This should offer flexibility in the number of bursts as well as the timing between pulses. Additionally in Modes 0 and 1, a continuous burst is possible by setting the count to 0.  The IO1 and IO2 clock frequencies are specified here:

A voltage output of the demodulated echo envelope is also available on VOUT for monitoring the Rx information in addition to the threshold crossing signal on OUT4.

    Thanks,

    Scott
