LDC2114: Large difference in data size between LDC_Tools-ext49 and LDC_Tools-ext50

Part Number: LDC2114
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC3114

Hello,

Large difference in data size between LDC_Tools-ext49 and LDC_Tools-ext50

The data size of the new version (LDC_Tools-ext50) is about 1/4 of the data size of the old version (LDC_Tools-ext49).

Previous versions
In the LDC_Tool_Spreadsheet_calculators folder after unzipping slyc137e.zip.
   938kB

New version
In the LDC_Tool_Spreadsheet_calculators folder after unzipping slyc137f.zip.
  3656kB

It's a pretty big difference in data size. What happened?
-Each sheet is protected (password locked)
-Added seat tab for LDC3114
I think there are some big differences other than the above.
I want to know the cause. That is very important.

Best regards,

  • There were mistakes, so I will revise as below. I'm sorry.

    Hello,

    Best regards,

  • The only change was to add the LDC3114 tab.
    Regards,
    John

  • Hi John-san,

All older versions(LDC_Tools-ext49) of LDC_Tools have a data size of about 3.6MB.

The new version has 1/4 the data size despite the increased number of sheets.

It looks like some data has been significantly reduced.

Do you have an older version? Please check it if you have one.

The person who published this version(LDC_Tools‐ext50 should definitely know why.

I'm asking you because the data size is so different.

The size is significantly different even before the folder is decompressed.

Each version of slyc137 downloaded from TI (The latest is sync137f.zip)

The data size of LDC_Tools-ext049 and LDC_Tools-ext050 after decompression was sent last time, so I will omit it here.

Each sheet data size of LDC_Tools-ext049

The data size of the "Spiral_Inductor_Designer" sheet alone is 1155kB.

In the new version of LDC_Tools-ext050, each sheet is protected, so the size of each sheet is unknown.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

I was able to compare the original release of the LDC calculator tool with the most recent revision:

It appears that LDC_Tools-ext50 is slighter larger, and this is reasonable with the addition of the LDC3114 tab.

    Best regards,

    Nicole

  •

    Hello, Ms. Nicole

    Thank you for reply

Let me confirm what is important.

Do you mean that the latest version, LDC_Tools-ext50, is based on a much older version, LDC_Tools-ext30, rather than the previous version, LDC_Tools-ext49?

    Please clarify only this.

The contents of the previous version LDC_Tools-ext49 are as mentioned last time.

The total size of each sheet is about 3.8MB. Now I think LDC_Tools-ext49 is completely different from the version LDC_Tools-ext30 more than 4 years ago.

    Best regards

    Hideki

  • Hello Hideki-san,

I apologize for any confusion, at that point I had only been able to find version 30 to compare with. Since then, I have checked the size between LDC_Tools-ext49 and LDC_Tools-ext50 and I am able to confirm what you are seeing.

It appears that the embedded instruction .pdf files are missing in LDC_Tools-ext50. To test this, I have added in the embedded files and confirmed that this makes LDC_Tools-ext50 slightly larger than the previous version.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, this is something that will be corrected in the next release of the tool.

    Best regards,
    Nicole

  • Hi Nicole-san,

I'm glad you found the difference.

I look forward to the next release.

At the same time, please make it possible to release the protection in the same way as the previous version LDC_Tools-ext049.

The fix requires not only LDC_Tools-ext50.xlsx but also Excel_FEMM_v1p28.xlsm in the same [LDC_Tool_Spreadsheet_calculators] folder.

I think that the people who operate these tools are mostly engineers, so I think it is not a good idea to lock these tools. All users should arrange the tools at their own risk. TI has already said that the user should have used the tool at their own risk.

I strongly hope that the next revise will allow the protection to be removed.

I'm not asking you to do anything new.

All you have to do is bring it back as before.

I'm sorry to say this many times, but previous versions definitely allowed unprotect without a password.

It seems that the previous version LDC_Tools-ext49 was found. Have you already confirmed this matter (LDC_Tools-ext49 can be unprotected?

    Best regards,

    Hideki

  • Hi Hideki-san,

Yes, it appears that previous versions of the tool were not password protected. I cannot guarantee any changes to LDC_Tools-ext50, but thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention.

    Best regards,

    Nicole

  • Hi Nicole-san,

Thank you for responding to this matter so far.

    I appreciate your cooperation.

We hope it will return to the same specifications as before. Hoping everything would be going well.

    Best regards,

    Hideki
