TMP75: Affect of turning off the device

Part Number: TMP75
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP175,

Hi dear supporting team,

If I turn off this device only, will it affect the communication of other devices connected to this I2C bus?
If only this device is turned off, will the device be damaged by the SCL and SDA pull-up resistors?

  • These parts use open drain. Even in shutdown the I2C port is still active. No loading will happen and ultra low current. No problem with keeping them connected to the I2C bus.

    7.4.1 Shutdown Mode (SD)

The shutdown mode of the TMP175 and TMP75 devices lets the user save maximum power by shutting down all device circuitry other than the serial interface, which reduces current consumption to typically less than 0.1 μA. Shutdown mode is enabled when the SD bit is 1; the device shuts down when the current conversion is completed. When SD is equal to 0, the device maintains a continuous conversion state.

  • The abs max table indicates the voltage at the SCL and SDA pins may exceed supply. If there was a problem with back-supply through SCL,SDA the voltage would be bound by (V+) the way that pin A2 is bound.

    thanks,

    ren
