Hi Ti team ,

I am using IWR6843 ISK Module.Can you please suggest how to prtect antenna from rusting when tested for long time in outer environment.Can we do some type of coformal coating.

Also i need information regarding how much distannce should i keep the sensor from enclosure for maximum performance and which material should i use for enclosure design for mmwave devices.

Apart from this can i use heat sink made up of copper on top of iwr6843 isk chip since it gets hot .

Hello,

The oxidation on the silver immersion finish is normal and expected. This will not impact performance in anyway and is purely cosmetic, so we have not tested any methods for preventing or removing the oxidation. You are welcome to try some of the methods mentioned below, but we cannot guarantee that this will not impact the antenna performance. I would recommend to ignore the oxidation and just leave as is.

Yes, you can use a heatsink, but any large metal objects in the FOV of the antenna will impact your antenna performance. Generally, a heatsink would be attached to the back of the board instead of the front so as to not appear in the antenna FOV.

And wether it will affect the performance of radar if make the enclosure flat of polycarbonate infront of radar antenna.
