MMWCAS-DSP-EVM: Bad Azimuth Resolution

Part Number: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243, MMWCAS-RF-EVM, , AWR1243

Hello everybody,

I am using the MMWCAS-DSP-EVM combined with the MMWCAS-RF-EVM with four AWR2243.

i want to evaluate the position of a highly reflecting target within the Range-Azimuth heatmap using the provided RTOS apps:

a: Cascade Radar (4 AWR1243) Capture + Radar Object Detect (DSP) + NetworkTx (TDA2xx Only)
b: Cascade Radar (4 AWR1243) Capture + FFT (EVE) + Tx Beam Form Static Map (DSP) + NetworkTx (TDA2xx Only)

My problem is that although the target is clearly visible within the Range/Doppler plot (MATLAB GUI) it results in a circle in the Range/Azimuth.

I expected a very high angle resolution of the imaging radar an I can not differentiate the targets at same distances with the described procedure.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your help!
