OPT3001: Differences between OPT3001 vs OPT3004 vs OPT3006

Part Number: OPT3001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT3006, OPT3004

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is currently choosing the ambient light sensor to be used in their next product, and are comparing different sensors from TI. To be more precise: the OPT3001 vs OPT 3004 vs OPT3006. As the three sensors seem to be quiet similar, they wanted to know on which one might be the perfect fit for their Augmented Reality glasses. The sensor will be used to automatically adjust the display brightness to the ambient intensity.

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Hi Art,

OPT3004 would be the best first choice. OPT3006 has a smaller package and requires special assembly on a flex PCB. It is reserved for very space constrained on flex applications. OPT3004 is a newer version of OPT3001 that adds better IR rejection at angles at the same price point.

    Best,

    Alex
