I am trying to measure the range of targets using an IWR6843 sensor. If i am not wrong, the sensor can measure maximum till 30-45m. If want to measure range beyond 45m. For this, I am putting a lens in front of the radar to extend it's range. When I use this setup along with mmwave studio, I can see that the maximum range in studio is limited to 45m. I keep the number of samples as 256 in mmwave studio.
I wanted to know that when we perform 1-D FFT on the chirp samples, we get the range cells varying from 0 to (c/2B)*(num_adc_samples). If I perform range fft on num_adc_samples, I get range varying from 0 to Rmax. So, If i perform 1-D FFT using more points say 1024, Will i be able to measure the extended range ?
