TMP126: How to use

Part Number: TMP126

I am attempting to use the part number for temp sensors in my design. The design utilizes an FPGA to write the limits and also to monitor the temperature of the areas where these are placed. Additionally, I would like to set up the monitors such that if any sense an overtemperature condition for instance I am able to send a command from the FPGA to shut down the system to perform any corrective actions. On top of that I would also like to use the ALERT function in each of the sensors during such an event to light an LED. With the supply to the monitors coming from an always on supply I was curious if the original limits sent to the monitor IC would remain. As a result of that then I would assume the ALERT function would continue to operate maintaining a lit LED while the temperature is over and only turn off when the temp goes below the limit. Could you verify if this is a supported use of this product?
