Hello,

I have a question related to beam formatting and steering capability of the AWR1843. I know that each transmitter has a built-in 6-bit configurable hardware phase shifter which can be programmed. However, I could not really understand how the phase shifter work. Can someone explain further how the beam formatting and steering works on the hardware level?

Hi,

The phase shifter applies a phase to the beam that is being transmitted by the specific Tx. From operation perspective this is all that needs to be understood.

Different phases applied to different Tx result in an angle for the overall beam.

From Signal Processing perspective there are more information provided in Figure 9 in the Design Guide for https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDEP-01012
