TMP103: Data hold time

Part Number: TMP103

Hi team,

Please let me confirm about Data hold time.

Datasheet mentions that Data hold time needs to be within 400ns max at FAST MODE, 125ns max at HIGH-SPEED MODE. But what will happen if Data hold time exceeds the max value?

I see similar posts like this question and it seems be OK even if Data hold time exceeds the max value.  Could you also explain the reason why it's OK?

  • Hi Noriyuki-san,

Hold time occurs after the SCL falls. Our device needs a minimum amount of time to react to SCL fall, so minimum hold time is important. Afterwards, nothing happens until the SCL rises. SDA timing prior to SCL rise is known as setup time. Minimum Setup time should be observed instead of maximum hold time. The real maximum hold time is the time from SCL fall to SCL rise minus minimum setup.

    thanks,
