TMP102-Q1: Absolute maximin Supply voltage -0.3V

Part Number: TMP102-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP117, TMP1075

HI, staff

Let me ask you a question in Absolute Maximum Ratings of TMP102-Q1 (SBOS702E).

The Min value of the Supply voltage is -0.3V.
However, the Min values for SCL, SDA, ADD0, and ALERT are -0.5V.

Is it okay to understand that applying a voltage -0.5V lower than the min value of the power supply -0.3V does not affect the signal terminals?

The voltage min value for the signal line of the same function device such as TMP117, TMP1075 is -0.3V, which is the same as the power supply terminal.

best regards

  • Hi Cafain,

We will provide feedback on this issue shortly.

  • Cafain,

To your comment "Is it okay to understand that applying a voltage -0.5V lower than the min value of the power supply -0.3V does not affect the signal terminals?" this would not be the correct understanding.

In this case, the -0.5V is an absolute number. If you have a GND potential, that is actually -0.2V for example, that does not mean you can apply -0.5V less than -0.2V or (-0.7V) and not damage the part.

For the TMP102-Q1 the abs min ratings for the supply voltage is -0.3V and the minimum values for the SCL/SDA/ADD0 and ALERT is -0.5V. The difference here is due to the construction of the ESD diodes.
