TMP114: TMP114A vs. TMP114B

Part Number: TMP114

Hi,

I'm researching the TMP114 and I came across two different versions in the datasheet that are confusing to me so I thought I'd make an E2E post. Here's a screenshot:

What's the benefit of having two of the exact same device with a different two-wire/target address? Does the address have any effect on performance or usability between different MCUs? I don't believe there is any kind of difference in package.

Thanks!

  • Dear Emil -

Thanks for the post and welcome to E2E.

The reason for same device with different I2C addresses is in the event two of these same parts are needed in an application. this device only has four pins, and needed to be cost effective, so the design and production was set up such as you see it in Table 7-2. The device is currently in preview mode, but you will always find the correct and latest version of the datasheet here on the product page. https://www.ti.com/product/TMP114
