LDC0851: About sensor design

Part Number: LDC0851

Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks to you, I understand a little more about LDC0851.

Also, could you please tell me about the sensor coil?
In the LDC sensor design, there is no mention of an "iron core" in the inductor coil design, although there is a picture of what appears to be an "iron core" in Figures 2.17 ~ 2.19. Should I assume that an "iron core" is not generally used in LDC systems?

I would like to use the calculation results for the inductor coil as support for the inductor coil, so please explain the case where an "iron core" is used.

  • Hello,

Most sensor designs for the LDC devices use a PCB coil rather than a wire wound one. These images are not an iron core inductor, just showing some different tips for creating wire wound coils. An iron core inductor would have an impact on the magnetic field of the sensor and how it would interact with a target. For this reason, it is not recommended to use an iron core inductor.
