Hi Team,

May I ask for help? Our customer have a concern: They are interested in the awr1843aop and they would like to make a prototype for their own application. They are trying to find the right PMIC for the radar chip. All the PMIC chips which are recommended by the TI reference designs & products tool are out of stock as far as they have found. They would like to have some help to make the right decision to have a easy to implement pmic for the awr1843aop. The price is not a issue for now. We would like to keep the amount of ic's minimal.

I was able to check LP87524J and LP87524P for them but both of it are also not available as of the moment. Then a response from our customer was shown below:

If I want to implement this with ldo's, the Reference designs & products tool recommends the TLV713P-Q1, LP5907-Q1, TPS7A8101-Q1, TPS796 and TPS7A88. But these ldo's(as far as I can find) can not deliver nowhere near the recommend powersuppy specifications of the AWR1843AOP. Why are these ldo's recommended? Are they actually enough for this radar chip?I have sent a screenshot of the power supply specifications in the attachments.

Hello Gerald,

These parts are likely recommended because they were used in mmWave EVMs, but not specifically to power the radar device. They may have been used to power some of the other peripherals on the EVM, such as the CAN PHY, etc.

In terms of recommended power solutions, we do have an upcoming EVM that is powered using discrete DC-DC converters instead of a PMIC. Let me see if that schematic/BOM is available to be shared with you on here.

Hello Gerald,

Sorry for the delay. I have attached the schematic and BOM here. This uses a discrete DC-DC power design that has been tested to meet the performance requirements for the radar. Please note that some of the DC-DC converter used in this design are pre-release and not available on the web, so you will need to reach out to your local field sales office to inquire about getting the parts.
