Hi,

I was wondering what the basic differences are with the above listed devices- IWR6843AOPEVM, IWR1443BOOST, IWR1843BOOST...

From documentations I understand that I have to use the MMWAVEICBOOST board with the IWR6843AOPEVM for connectivity to the DCA1000 board. But this does not seem to be the case when I am to use the IWR1443BOOST or IWR1843BOOST. Could I know why this is so?

Will it be possible to have (in a custom design?) a direct connection between the IWR6843AOPEVM to the DCA1000 without using the MMWAVEICBOOST board?

Sorry for the delay due to holidays.

To understand the differences between the various mmWave Sensors, you can refer to the device comparison tables of one of the datasheets :

IWR6843AOP Single-Chip 60- to 64-GHz mmWave Sensor Antennas-On-Package (AOP) datasheet (Rev. A) (ti.com)

and the EVM user guide : 60GHz mmWave Sensor EVMs (Rev. D) (ti.com)

Yes, you're right. You need MMWAVEICEBOOST with IWR6843AOP for connection with DCA1000 as it does not provide a direct connection to the board.

IWR1443, IWR1843 and IWR6843 (non-AOP) provide a direct connection via 60Pin Samtec Header on the EVM.

Thanks for taking time to reply to my enquiry.

One more- I have two EVMs- IWR6843AOP_EVM (Rev F) and IWR6843ODS (Rev A). It looks to me that I got the deprecated IWR6843ODS (Rev A), which does not have a direct connection to the DCA1000 board and will always require the MMWAVEICBOOST card. Is this correct?

Yes, you're right, deprecated IWR6843ODS (Rev A) does not have a direct connection to the DCA1000 board and will always require MMWAVEICBOOST card.

When did you purchase this board? If it was recently purchased, you should have got the latest rev.
