Hi,
AMC6821 Auto Temperature-Fan mode can let it standalone output PWM base on temperature?
Or it still need I2C set some config?
My customer want use it without MCU. Is it possible?
Thanks!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
The Auto Temperature-Fan mode is a closed-loop control that optimizes fan speed for a given temperature to intelligently manage the system thermals/acoustics. It runs stand-alone even without the intervention of a controller. The AMC6821 has two auto temperature fan control modes, the default mode will have the fan in the Auto Remote Temperature-Fan Speed control mode where the temperature reading from the remote temperature sensor is the active control temperature that controls the PWM duty cycle.
More information can be found on page 27 of the datasheet.

Hi Jalen,
But I find previous E2E post said it need MCU enable it first, it make me confuse.
Thanks!
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
Yes, you will need to set the start bit of the configuration register initially. Just as mentioned in the e2e post you referenced.

Are you looking for a fan controller device that was 8 output PWM signals? Can you please clarify the requirements for the product?
