LDC0851: OUT (output) of LDC0851

Part Number: LDC0851

Thank you very much for your help.
I would like to develop a sensor board with LDC0851 mounted, and would like to know about OUT (sensing output).

1. For the OUT signal output circuit.

I would like to use the LDC0851 in the following circuit, where the OUT output is the sensor output.
Is it feasible? Also, I would like to know about the internal circuit of the OUT signal.

2. For the ON condition of the OUT signal.

When the inductance of the sensor coil is higher than the inductance of the reference coil, the OUT signal turns ON (normal operation).
The troubleshooting section says that the OUT signal also turns ON when one or both of the reference coil and sensor coil are disconnected or shorted (failure operation).

Is there any function to monitor the failure state? Please let me know if there are any application examples in which the LDC0851 is implemented.

That's all. Thank you for your cooperation.

  • Hello,

Using a transistor with the output of the LDC0851 is an acceptable solution for driving a load that requires a higher current than the device will output.

In regards to the fault conditions, there is no other information output for this. However, the output state is normally high and transitions to low when the metal target is within the switching distance set. The fault condition will keep the output high so that it is the same as not having the metal target present.
