TMP102: Readout cycle

Part Number: TMP102

We’ll initialize the register flags CR0 and CR1 to 8 Hz conversion rate (Continuous-Conversion Mode). Is there a limitation how often the temperature value is read? As the sample result is stored in a read only register, I think not, but there is no information in data sheet. It’s clear that we’ll get same temperature value for several reads. That’s not a problem at all. The question is if it is allowed to use a readout rate much higher than conversion?

  • Hi Edwin,

Thank you for posting to the Sensing forum, and welcome to E2E.

I believe that this should be fine as long as the timing requirements in Section 6.6 are being followed, as violating these may cause the TMP102 to malfunction. Additionally, the first temperature result will only be available one Conversion Time after power on.

    Best regards,

    Nicole
