TMCS1107: regarding isolation voltage

Part Number: TMCS1107

Hi support team.

Is my understanding that TMCS1107 guarantees insulation at internal creepage distance correct?
Also, I don't think it's double insulation, is that correct?
I am asking a question because my customer requested a comment from you(TI).

Regards,

Higa

  • Daisuke,

While you are correct that the isolation internal to the part is galvanic, i.e., single isolation, the creepage distance in the datasheet is not internal. Creepage and clearance are external factors, and the creepage and clearance factors are dependent not only the part, but the system.

These values take only the shortest terminal to terminal values of the part into account. Additional factors, such as cutouts in the PCB, or other conducting components placed in the vicinity could alter these values.

All of this said, if the creepage and clearance distance of the system is maintained at 4mm, the part should retain its isolative capabilities provided it is operated within the bounds of the datasheet,.
