Hi,

Good day.

Our customer wants to run this in unidirectional mode but they are not certain of how much negative current this device can take in that mode.

They want to know what is the limit of negative current that can be passed through this IC without damaging it in unidirectional mode.

    Cedrick,

    The input side of the TMCS1100 is simply a lead frame developed to create a field on the Hall sensing element. The magnitude of current the device should be able to handle is the same amount of current in either direction for thermal stability. That said, keep in mind this is reverse saturation, and not overload saturation, so the timing parameters of the datasheet can not be applied here. The customer may wish to perform their own characterization on the magnitude of time needed to restore linear operation from a reverse saturation event.
