TMP431: Remote Temperature Registers Reset needed check

Part Number: TMP431

Hi Team,

Customer found they always need to use software reset firstly then they can read the remote temperature registers normally, otherwise the remote temperature registers will not change. They feel confused about it and want to know whether it's normal or not? Pls help us here.

Best,

Stanley

  • Hi Stanley,

By default, the TMP431 needs over 100ms to make new measurements on its two channels. See Conversion Time table. If the customer queries temperature several times within 100ms, they will get the same result every time.

If the customer set the SD bit in CONFIG register, the device will no longer make new measurements until this bit is changed, the TMP431 is reset, or One-Shot is initiated by writing to the One-Shot register.

If the customer wrote to the Conversion Rate Register, there could be a delay as long as 16 seconds between measurements. The temperature registers will report the last measurement during this time. See Figure 20.

If you have further questions, please share customers' exact I2C transactions on logic analyzer or oscilloscope.

    thanks,

    ren
