AWR6843AOPEVM: Running AWR6843ISK image on top of AWR6843AOP

There's a request that a new Customer wants to solve.

Due to lack of EVM sample, They bought both AWR6843AOP and IWR6843ISK EVMs for Automotive mmWave Incabin Sensing projects to examine the demos below.

They tried to run the prebuilt images provided from Toobox on top of both AWR6843AOP and IWR6843ISK.

Although the demo was prepared for AWR6843ISK, they would like to run the Lab with AWR6843AOP EVM in addition to xWR6843ISK to check performance difference.

We found the prebuilt image works fine with IWR6843ISK. But it does not work from AWR6843AOP board.

Can you please let us know how to change source code if xWR6843AOP EVM able to run with ISK based Lab?

    Demo/lab have detection algorithms that  vary based on:

    1. Frequency of operation (77Ghz, 60Ghz

    2. Antenna type

    3. Device Firmware  Radar Subsystem image

    As long as there is compatibility along the above elements  demo can be run across devices. 

    Note:There is more to it but this can be used as a rule of thumb.

    For the boards in consideration

    Images/Demos are compatible between the following hardware board pairs:

    AWR6843ISK  <--> IWR6843ISK

    AWR6843AOPEVM <-> IWR6843AOPEVM

    AWR6843ISK-ODS  <-> IWR6843ISK-ODS

     Please note that above names match Hardware Boards  so that device + Antenna is taken into account. 

    We found the prebuilt image works fine with IWR6843ISK. But it does not work from AWR6843AOP board.

    Above two are not compatible pair of Hardware Boards (Device+Antenna ), please make sure you are using the correct images that match the board.

    We understood the compatibile device type as you mentioned above.

    My customer would like to examine "the Occupance and Vital Signs Detection Demo of Automotive Toolbox - 3.6.0 version" with AWR6843AOP although the H/W requirements does not support AOP type for that. 

    Is there any way to HACK the source code to run the binary on top of AOP type instead of ISK? It seems be blocked on beginning of the initialization stage by checking device type of EVM.

    They want to check the different performance btw ISK and AOP with the same binary,

    Based on  your request  it seems like you would have to look into #2 item for changes. This requires understand and modification of code.

    Demo/lab have detection algorithms that  vary based on:

    Your options are:

    1. Modify AWR6843ISK boards code to adapt for AWR6843AOP board. See other AWR6843AOP demo for Angle of Arrival sections.

    2. To check feasibility of AWR6843AOP's Vital use the IWR6843AOP vital signs demo

    3. To check feasibility of AWR6843AOP for in Vehicle occupancy detection  see compatible demo under Automotive toolbox.
