Hello,

With the MMWCAS-RF-EVM evaluation board, is there any trigger output when it starts framing so I can synchronize it with other sensors/DAQ?

Hi,

Yes, the frame can be triggered through SW or HW pulse.

Please see Table 5.27 and related notes

Hi,

I think you misunderstood my questions. I am asking if there are any ways the system (MMWCAS-RF-EVM with MMWCAS-DSP-EVM) can OUTPUT a signal/pulse through the GPIO upon the transmitting of the FIRST chirp pulse or frame. This is NOT the same as controlling the triggering of the system via an external pulse.

Reason for this is that I want to use this system to measure human heart rate and I want to synchronize it with an external ground truth heart sensor. Hence, after the system sends the first chirp, it would be ideal if it can send out a pulse, which would then trigger a the data acquisition on the ground truth heart sensor as my reference.

This is not possible. The cascade system does not have this capability

Can you give me specific instruction on how we can trigger the frames using Hardware Pulses?

There are two things to consider

1) Sw configuration

The RF front end configuration must be modified

Table 5:30, SUB_FRAMETRIGGER must be set to 1

I checked the matlab configuration code

C:\ti\mmwave_studio_03_00_00_14\mmWaveStudio\MatlabExamples\4chip_cascade_MIMO_example\utils\cascade_json_parser\JsonParser.m

I don't see the frame trigger field being used. So probably the default value is used.

2) hw pulse trigger

For the spec for the shape of the pulse, please see Table 5.27 and related notes
