LDC1000EVM: Inductance-to-digital convertor

Part Number: LDC1000EVM

Hi Team,

Could you please check if we are on the right track on this EVM.

Our cusotmer want to use an LDC1000EMV evaluation board with a tank circuit, but not for proximity sensing.

Requirements:

1. They need to know the resonant frequency of the tank. Can I obtain this from the LDC1000EMV?

2. Is it possible to log the resonant frequency and write it into a file (e.g. EXCEL)?

3. They need to sample the resonant frequency every 5 minutes for a period of 10 days.

Thank you in advance for the support.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Jonathan,

I think you will be able to do the monitoring you want to do with with the Sensing Solutions GUI.
For the details, please see the EVM User's Guide, section 1.2.8, Streaming Measurement Data, and 1.2.8.5, Configuring the Graph.
One of the data graphing options is to plot the sensor frequency, as shown in Figure 1-26.
Once the monitoring is complete, you can export the file as described.

Some of the challenges with using a tank circuit is that the sensor may be sensitive to temperature variations and electromagnetic interference.
Please be sure to test the overall system for these concerns before kicking off the real data-gathering.

    John

  • Many thanks, John.

This confirms my best suspicions!  Yes, I'm aware of the temperature and EMI issues and know I will have to mitigate these.
