LDCCOILEVM: Sourcing the coil

Part Number: LDCCOILEVM

Hi, I recently ordered the LDCCOILEVM board as I'm designing a sensor for a linear actuator. One of the traces on that board, the 40x5mm rectangular racetrack pattern, would work pretty fantastic for what I'm trying to do (20mm linear sensor, packaged coaxially in a moving rod). Do you guys have a part number for that particular PCB already released and for sale?

Even better, is there one that's already potted in a cylindrical "probe" shape? Are there any distributors or end users who have done this that are selling a completed package? I can make one myself, but it would be a lot less reinventing of the wheel if someone else has already done it. Here's a couple pics of what I've made up.

  • David,

Thank you for the post and your interest in TI products. Cool idea.

We have two EVMs with different coils.
One is the LDCCOILEVM that you have already ordered, with a user's guide that shows measured coil characteristics.

The other is a collection of coils oriented towards touch sensing applications.
The LDCTOUCHCOMCOILEVM can be ordered, and its user's guide is available here.
It has some racetrack coils as well.

The market for this technology is growing, so there may be a good business case for providing assemblies like you describe.
Having said that, we do not provide them, and I am sorry to say I am not aware of any distributors or third-party vendors that sell them.
If you discover any, please feel free to update this thread with their info.

    Regards,
    John
