DRV421EVM: Sensor sensitivity

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to know the sensitivity of this sensor.

And in addition, the customer would also like to understand the point why the coil wires are connected to the PCB board as seen below.

Hello Marvin,

Are you talking about for current? If so this would depend on the core design and the full system. Most of this information is in the datasheet on how this works. Do you have specific questions on the datasheet. The compensation coil is required as this closes the loop in the system. Not connecting the compensation coil is like operating in open loop and will not work.

Hi Javier,

The customer has a follow-up question, if they use a normal ferrite ring which basically doesn’t have any coil wounded to it, how can they work with the evaluation board on closed-loop system?

Marvin,

It would not. The ferrite core would also need an air gap to capture the flux from core and got through the DRV421 so the DRV421 would need to be placed next to the air gap.
