HDC3020-Q1: HDC3020-Q1 Layout Question

Part Number: HDC3020-Q1

Hi Expert

My customer want to use HDC3020-Q1 for their system.

we have two question about layout:

1. In the datasheet layout guideline, it require' Use slots or a cutout around the device to reduce the thermal mass and obtain a quicker response time to sudden environmental changes.'  in my understand, it I doesn't want to high temp accuracy and i want to high humidity. because my PCB doesn't have enough area for cutout, can I doesn't cutout?

2. Does HDC3020-Q1 have distance requirement like how long and how high can there be no obstructions near the sensor?

  • Hi Meng,

Thank you for posting to the sensing forum.

The humidity response is dependent on the temperature accuracy. You will need to ensure that the sensor does not get too hot and that there is enough thermal isolation from the other components on your board. If you cannot add cutouts, make sure that your board is thin and that no signals are routed under the sensor.

You can refer to this document for placement guidelines.
