DRV5032: Magnet to device angle question!!!

Part Number: DRV5032

Hi team,

Normally, the sensor and the magnet will be perpendicular.
If the position of the sensor remains the same but the magnet angle is inclined because of PCB board,
is there any information to know how much the angle of inclination will prevent it from receiving the magnetic force?
Asking this question is that it is possible that the PCBA of the sensor may not be completely adhered to the mechanical parts, and it may be tilted unilaterally,
as shown in Figure below.
Thanks

  • Paul,

In the event of this kind of tilt, the direction of sensitivity of the sensor becomes some combination of the vertical component of the field with either X, Y, or both.  If the tilt of the sensor relative to the magnet is known, then you can determine the error though a geometric coordinate space translation.

We have an excel tool available on the product page that can help calculate the magnetic field for either bar or axial polarized cylinder magnets.

Here you should be able to enter your magnet properties and the sensor location, and the path of motion for your magnet.  Based on these the XYZ component data for the B-field will be produced and plotted.  You could then adjust this data based on your tilt angle(s) to estimate what your sensor will experience.

    Thanks,
