IWR1642: Time-Frequency plot

Part Number: IWR1642

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to use TI IWR1642Boost for capturing mouvement signature. I'm getting started with this type of device. for know i can retrieve only the range-doppler graphic using UART data.

My objective is to plot time-frequency graphic but for now i'm not getting the needed data so my questions are :

  1. Do you have any idea for how to get the time frequency plot using any type of data (UART or using DCA1000) : i only know (from documentation) that we can apply 1D FFT on raw data but if you have more detailed explanations i'll be grateful.
  2. Can you suggest any other technique for movement signature retrievement using TI IWR1642 radar.

Thank you in advance.

Greetings.

  • Hi,

Have you taken a look at the Out Of Box Demo? The doppler information is contained within each point in the resultant point cloud, which is typically sufficient for movement detection. The out of box demo can be found in the mmWave Industrial Toolbox under Labs->Out_Of_Box_Demo

    Best Regards,
    Alec

  • Hello Alec,

Your answer is helping me advancing to my aim, thank you so much

In fact, i don't need the movement detection, i need the movement recognition (by plotting a the time-frequency spectrogram of the returned signal). if you have any further tool or hint please share with me.

    Thank's again.

    Abdellah.
