DCA1000EVM: Ethernet port connector lights are always on

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2944, , AWR1642

Hi,

I am working on the AWR2944 and DCA1000EVM .But I am getting error while setting up DCA1000. FPGA Version is not getting detected. I also observed that two LEDs on the ethernet connector are on even without connecting the cable. The image below indicates the ethernet connector .

Here I have not connected the ethernet cable still the light is glowing. I have re-flashed the FPGA  with version 2.8 using diamond lattice programmer. But still there is no change. Kindly help me in resolving this issue.

Vandana

  • Hello,

Was this board ever functioning properly, or is this your first time trying to use it?

Can you please share a screen shot of the GUI connection window after you try to connect? Can you also please share a screenshot of how you are configuring your IP address? Lastly, please confirm the voltage/current rating of the power supply you are using.

    Regards,

    Adrian

  • Yes. I have used this board multiple times before and it has worked properly.

This is how the gui connection window looks like.

The IP configuration window is shown below:

Currently I have connected AWR1642 board to the DCA1000EVM. As AWR2944 EVM doesnot support mmwave studio. Could this be possible due to power supply adapter with more power rating have caused it?

Usually 5v, 3A of power is given to the board.

  • Hello Vandana,

Yes, unfortunately if you have connected the 12V supply to the DCA1000 the board will be damaged. I have also accidentally done this once and the board was no longer functional.

You would need to replace the DCA1000 board. You could also take a look at the schematic of the DCA1000 and try replacing individual power supply IC on the board, but there is no guarantee that you would be able to fix it. It would be very difficult to isolate specifically which components were damaged.
