IWR6843AOP: Question about changing PMIC for IWR6843AOP

Part Number: IWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2944EVM, AWR1843BOOST, AWR2944, IWR6843LEVM

Hi!

As mentioned in https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/1004788/iwr6843aop-iwr6843aop-design-parts-issue/3712569#3712569 and other similar questions, the orginal PMIC used for IWR6843AOP is out of stock. Another similar question is also purposed in https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/1097799/iwr6843-switching-frequency-of-supply?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=IWR6843%2520PMIC#.

I am wondering whether there are any update on alternative of PMIC solution? Since I only need a few units for testing, reaching to a sale team is a bit troublesome for me.

  • Hello,

You could take a look at the schematic design for AWR1843BOOST and AWR2944EVM, which both use a different PMIC topology. If those are available, I would recommend to use one of those designs. The AWR2944 PMIC is specifically designed for safety applications, so if you are not concerned with that it may be overkill for your design, but would still work fine with the 6843AOP device.

We also have the IWR6843LEVM, which uses a discrete DC-DC power tree, so this would be another option as well.
