DRV5056-Q1: calculation tools for DRV5056-Q1

Part Number: DRV5056-Q1

Hi Expert,

My customer is using DRV5056-Q1 is their new project. Have some questions for the calculation tools on ti.com.

There are 3 different calculation tools for DRV5056-Q1. Customer would like to use it to calculate the magnetic for linear movement. So which tool should they use?

Besides, they tried with tool 1, when the distance between magnet N45 Φ5*8mm and the surface of DRV5056-Q1 is 2.8mm, the calculated magnetic flux density is 156mT

If they use tool 3, when the distance between magnet N45 Φ5*8mm and the surface of DRV5056-Q1 is 2.8mm, the calculated magnetic flux density is 120mT

So which tool should Customer refer to?

Thanks!

  • Ethan,

Thanks for reaching out.  Tools 1 and 3 are performing the same function using the same equation.  Here the magnet travels linearly toward or away from the sensor along its axis of polarization.  I've tried to check the calculations based on the information you provided:

In both cases I see a result of 154.1 mT.

In tool #2, there is more flexibility for the setup to allow different paths of linear travel.  I would recommend this tool if the motion does not exactly match what is shown in the image capture above.

    Thanks,

    Scott
