IWR1443: Using Different mmWave to Transmit and Receive

Part Number: IWR1443
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843,

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I'm using the TI mmWave radars. I wanna use IWR1843 as a transmitter, and another IWR1443 as a receiver. But 1443 didn't receive the chirps from 1843. What should I do?

Is it possible to transmit the chirps from one radar to another radar?

Regards,

CSC

  • Hello.

It is not possible to transmit chirps from the IWR1843 to be received by the IWR1443.  This is because in order for the radar to process a received signal, it needs to be mixed with the original transmit signal, but since the board is only receiving, it has no reference point to demodulate the received signal.  These radars are not meant to be used for RF communication purposes, and the purposes/functionalities of these radars can be read about here.
