OPT4001: What's the difference between OPT3001 and OPT4001

Part Number: OPT4001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT3001

Hi Team

OPT4001 is the next gen of OPT3001?

what's the difference between this two device, and which sorts of feature was improved of OPT4001 compared with OPT3001

  • Hello Harry,

The OPT4001 offers higher precision and faster conversion times than the OPT3001. Higher precision allows for finer control of display brightness, especially under darker conditions, allowing for much more flexibility of the placement of the sensor. For example, the high precision OPT4001 would be a great for being placed in the cluster unit of a car. The faster conversion time enables better reaction time to environmental changes, like driving in and out of tunnels.

Since the resolution/conversion time ranges are programmable, it allows for much greater flexibility for the ALS to be in different use-cases where the OPT3001 could not be placed.

In cases where power efficiency is paramount, please note that the OPT3001 is still more efficient at an active power-on state.

Here's a basic breakdown of the difference between the two:
