Hello,

We're considering using the PGA302 in our new project.

To facilitate production and testing, we would like to develop tools to automate the configuration and calibration of the devices.

We purchased the eval module (PGA302EVM-037), and would like to know if you can provide the firmware of the MSP430F5510 used on the board, and also the source code of the GUI used with the EVM (PGA302EVM GUI - SLDC017). We believe that would help us a lot in developing our production tools by giving some reference to start from and would speed up the whole development process.

Hi Edison,

Let me look into this and get back to you. The MSP430 firmware may not be able to be released because I believe it was a slightly modified version of some proprietary firmware that is not publicly available, but it is more likely we will be able to release the GUI source code. Note that this may require an NDA to be put into place.

Hi Edison,

At this time we currently are not able to release the GUI source code or the firmware. We are in the process of developing a reference design for a calibration system to support the PGA300, PGA305, and PGA302, but there will still be some time before it is released, and initial support will only be for the PGA300. I will let you know when it is ready in the coming months.

Hello Scott,

It is unfortunate to hear that, since it means we will have to build the production tools from the ground up and our schedule will be set back considerably.

On this note, I would like to take the chance to ask you about something we will need know to create our production tools. Could you tell me what is the underlying data format of the PGA-302 compensation coefficients? I tried to find this info on the datasheet, but I could only find that they are 16-bit values in two's complement format. However, given that they are used in a polynomial with 16-bit inputs (ADC_T and ADC_P) to produce a 14-bit output (DAC_OUT), it seems to me that they are probably treated as fixed-point numbers. What is not clear to me is what exactly their format is (Q1.14, Q2.13, etc.).

Hi Edison,

The coefficients used are fixed point and normalized to 14 bits. So the EEPROM coefficients will be equal to your calculated coefficient times 2^14.
