BOOSTXL-TUSS4470: Unable to program MSP-EXP430F5529LP in TUSS4xx0 EVM GUI

Part Number: BOOSTXL-TUSS4470
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, UNIFLASH

Hello,

I've recently purchased a BOOSTXLTUSS4470 and MSP-EXP430F5529LP, I've downloaded the GUI and stacked them up as in the guide. The GUI says no TUSS4xx0 device detected and when attempted to flash the launchpad micro there's a binary programming failure attached is an image of the GUI window. LED102 on launchpad is lit, D3 and D2 are lit on BOOSTXL board.

  • I've done a fresh install and it seems the below happens at the end of install

  • Hey Ben,

Thanks for posting to the sensing forum!

When you were doing reinstalling the GUI did you completely clear the previous install files and retry the reinstallation? Can you open device manager and check if the MSP is communications with the PC. When connected properly it looks something like the image below.

We need to ensure that the MSP is connected to the PC before doing the install, this could be a possibility why it is failing. Another thing to note is if all the files mentioned in the first warning are all installed.

    Best,

    Isaac

  • Hey Ben,

I tried reinstalling the GUI without deleting the old install files and I got no error. Perhaps your first install got corrupted in some way, perhaps try deleting all those files and attempting to reinstall completely.

  • Fresh install after uninstalling, rebooting and deleting files gave below error. next to it is the folder in question with file missing. U2A_TUSS.out is in images folder and the one_time_setup.bat file executed (quickly flashes on screen)

Below is coms in device manage.

  • Hello Ben,

It looks like you are missing the MSP430_Driver_Config, not sure if this is why you are getting this error during install but I went ahead and included the file below. The U2A_TUSS.out file should be in the user_files->images->U2A_TUSS.out

    MSP430_Driver_Config.lnk

  • Hi Isaac, thank you for your help and patience on this, The U2A_TUSS.out file is in the correct location, The file you sent me made it possible for a fresh install to perform correctly but I am still getting the first error, below is a screen shot of various windows. I executed both bat files and tried the .exe file

I also tried installing the MSP_ti_signed.inf file, result is below.

Below is result from command prompt loading one_time_setup.bat

I managed to get the drivers to install properly by installing the .inf files seperately in the MSP430 USB_CDC and USB_eZ_RF folder but still get original error.

  • Hey Ben,

No worries glad to help out! Interesting, let me provide you with my entire UNIFLASH folder, try replacing this folder in the path to see if perhaps helps you flash the firmware.

Another thought would be to try this on a different PC, I did a fresh install on another computer just to make sure there were no issues and everything ran smoothly and programmed the MSP correctly.

Let me know if either of these things work!

    UNIFLASH.zip

  • Hi Isaac,

The uniflash folder makes no difference but I was able to install on another PC, also another strange thing is the config file wasn't missing after the install on the other computer and drivers were installed during setup. I'll have to find out from our IT why this is an issue. thanks for the help.

After uninstalling and deleting every file related to this on first computer and extracting  sldc021c Zip file and reinstalling the config.lnk file fails to be created by the install and it is unable to find it. strange, again I'll check with our IT because I would need it for this computer but thought i'd share.

We managed to get it to install properly on the first machine now.

  • Thanks for the update Ben!

I am glad you were able to get it to install properly. Hopefully your IT team is able to figure out why certain files are not being created by the install file. Feel free to make another post if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    Isaac
