Were looking at using the TMCS1107A4U to replace a hard to get sensor from another vendor. The TI part is almost a drop in replacement except for pin 6. Our PCB has pin 6 tied to +5V/Vcc. TMCS1107A4 listed pin 6 as a NC and has the further detail ....
"No connect. Pin can tolerate a capacitive or resistive connection to GND or VS (recommend short to GND if acceptable)." - So on our existing PCB we don't have a resistive connection to Vs/Vcc ...its a direct short!
I had one of our boards (which has two current sensors), populated with the TI parts. One of the parts has pin 6 lifted from the PCB pad (ie NC) and the other has all pins soldered. I find that ..
a) Both parts appear to be working the same way ...and correctly
b) No warmth/heat from either part.
So ... I'd like to get some deeper information on the admonition about resistive connections to Gnd or Vs and when (if ever) its ok to have pin 6 connected directly to 5V.
Thanks
Jim
