TMP442: DXP2/DXM2 unused

Part Number: TMP442
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DXP, TMP422

Hi All,

I have a question about the TMP442.

The connection of DXP2/DXM2, which is unused, is described in the datasheet as an Open or GND connection.
In E2E, it also states that DXP and DXN should be shorted together.

Which connection is correct for unused terminals?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

Either connection is acceptable. Both are described in the datasheet.

The SENSOR FAULT section states that shorting DXP/DXN together will prevent the OPEN bit from being set. There is no harm in having the OPEN bit set; the OPEN bit can be ignored.

The TWO-WIRE INTERFACE SLAVE DEVICE ADDRESSES section of the datasheet suggests that unused DXP be tied to GND. This doesn't have any relevance to TMP442, but in TMP422 it could be used to configure the address.

    thanks,

    ren
