I am using LDC1612EVM for very small metal detection. When used with USB power, connecting USB cable to PC USB port, It works as expected. Is it safe if I connect external +5V power supply to power lines of USB cables and only two Data lines connected to PC ? Will PC USB port detect the device ? Do I need to short GND line from PC side to GND of external power supply ?
