AWR1843: Does AWR1843 LVDS interface support SSC(spread spectrum clocking)?

Part Number: AWR1843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCS503

Currently have AWR1843 radar front-end and transfer data to FPGA with LVDS. Does AWR1843 LVDS interface support SSC(spread spectrum clocking)?

Alternatively, If it does not, would CDCS503(LVCOMS) be used for LVDS(differential )interface?

  • Hi,

Due to local holidays there will be a delay in answering this question

    thank you

  • Hello Josh,

The AWR1843 LVDS interface does not support SSC. The LVCOMS buffer cannot be used for LVDS interfaces.

Could you provide more background on the reason you need SSC on the LVDS interface? In AWR1843 this interface was intended only for debug and development purpose. In the final application the ADC data is expected to be processes internal to the 1843 device, and typically the need to use the LVDS interface would not be there.

  • Hi Vivek,

Thanks for the reply. i'm working a study on suppress EMI energy from the board, in our application, FPGA will consume all the raw data from LVDS from AWR1843.

  • Hi Vivek,

I'd like to follow up our discussion, is any part from TI(Similar toCDCS503) that can reduce EMI emission from LVDS interface?

  • Hello Josh,

I am not aware of LVDS buffers that support SSC feature. I have seen these mostly in LVCMOS buffers. I would recommend routing the LVDS lines in inner layers, shielding them with Gnd traces etc. to reduce the emissions.

You could also look at adding metallic shield around your sensor if the routing techniques suggested above are not sufficient .
