TMP112EVM: Using TMP112EVM's USB controller side and Software for TMP102EVM sensor side

Part Number: TMP112EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP102, TMP112,

Hello Expert,

My understanding for TMP112 is software and drop-in compatible device against TMP102.
Then, I'd like to know about whether we can use TMP112EVM's USB controller card and EVM software when I connect SDA/SCL/3.3V/GND for TMP102EVM's sensor board's same name port.

Could I use those items for TMP112EVM to TMP102EVM?

Thank you and best regards,
Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

Thank you for posting to the Sensing forum.

Yes, this should work since the TMP112 is a drop-in replacement for TMP102. Both devices are register and software compatible. The customer should be able to break off the smaller section on the TMP112EVM and connect the TMP102EVM.

Is there a particular reason the customer is using the TMP102 instead of the TMP112? The TMP112 is a higher accuracy device.

    Best regards,

    Nicole

  • Hi Nicole-san,

Thank you for your swift support.

Honestly, they want to confirm performance of our I2C repeater device and TMP102 is mounted on this EVM as target device.
Also, this EVM only has SDL/SDA/Vcc/GND pin to connect I2C so I'm asking about whether TMP112's communication board can be reuse to communicate TMP102.

    Thank you and best regards,
