IWR1443BOOST: Application Help

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Hello Team,

I'm posting on behalf of my customer:

Hello, I recently purchased the IWR1443 BOOST mmWave sensor for my University’s Senior Design Capstone Project. So far, it has been working properly but we are unable to get the plots we want. I have included the plots we have been getting with the sensor. We are generating these plots with the use of Robot Operating System (ROS). For the plots that we want, we are wanted to get somewhat of a surface profile of the objects we are measuring.

For my application, I am trying to measure the bed surface profile in a reactor silo, which is similar to a grain silo. This measurement will occur while the silo is being filled with a machine called a Dense Loading Machine (I can send supporting images if needed). Is machine is similar to a fertilizer spreader commonly used on lawns. This machine will evenly fill the tank and I just want to monitoring the flatness material in the silo. An example of what we want to see is shown in the second image with the vehicles (below). I would like to get a surface profile in a heat map like shown in the second image with the cars.

It would be nice to have that level of accuracy as well. It would also be nice if the solution could be compatible with the ROS system we are using at the moment. I am not sure of what steps we need to take to be able to get a plot like the one shown in the second image. Our knowledge is somewhat limited on this topic due to our senior capstone team being mostly comprised of Mechanical Engineers.
I will upload all of the ROS files I have for your reference.
