TMCS1101: Output voltage offset error VOE

Part Number: TMCS1101

Hello support team,

My customer ask the following questions, could you support?

*Datasheet has spec of Output voltage offset error VOE, each unit shows fixed VOE every power up? E.g. if VOE shows +0.8mV and toggle power supply, does VOE shows same value +0.8mV in next power up. or VOE always changes every power up, e.g. +0.8mV, -0.7mV, +1mV? They would like to calibrate VOE error on their factory.

* VOE population distribution data

Does datasheet have Input Offset Current Production Distribution data, can this reuse VOE distribution data? Please advise how to convert to VOE.

Thanks,

Koji Ikeda

  • Koji,

    The offset of each device will be a fixed parameter, but keep in mind that the device does not contain ambient field rejection, which means that there will also be a small addition from the earths magnetic field. I would advise showing your customer this app note, which walks through some of these challenges and discusses calibration options. In short, the customer will be able to calibrate out the offset from the device itself, but not from the external field.

    The device does show input offset current distribution data in figures 7-9 through 7-16 in the datasheet. To convert these values to Voe, all that needs to happen is to multiply the device in question by the sensitivity, or: input offset current X sensitivity = output voltage offset error.
