AWR1642BOOST: Radar Course Project Concerns regarding AWR1642BOOST, AWR1843BOOST and DCA modules

Hello. I am an engineering student, my group and I have been tasked with using FMCW radar to develop a vehicle collision warning system. The system should be able to detect a vehicle in front of it, determine the distance between itself and said vehicle, and determine the speed of it. To do this we plan on using the AWR1843BOOST or the AWR1642BOOST Evaluation boards. From our research, we found that the DCA1000EVM is often required to be able to interpret the data collected by the boost board, due to the boost board lacking the necessary USB connection to connect to a PC. Is there another way to acquire this data without that connection? Our project has a budget and purchasing the DCA would exceed said budget. We found a TI lab that is fairly similar to what we wish to accomplish.

This lab does not mention the DCA 1000EVM so we want to confirm if the DCA is absolutely needed. If at all possible we would like to avoid having to use the DCA so that we may remain on budget. The lab uses a GUI to present the data without the utilization of the DCA. If we could properly program the dsp that is built into either of the proposed evaluation boards, is it still possible to achieve our goal? Since what we really need are the outputs from the dsp processor.
