Is it possible for the device to be in shut-down mode initially and then triggered to do a One-Shot conversion?

What are the ramifications of triggering a one-shot conversion by setting the OS bit in the configuration register to "1" when the SD bit is already set to "1"?

    We are currently TCN75A temperature sensor from Microchip in our project and looking to replace it with TMP275. while having the firmware backwards compatible with both the devices.

    In TCN75A, while working in the one-shot mode, the device needs to initially be in Shutdown mode.  This is done by sending a byte to the CONFIG register with bit 0 set <1> and bit 7 cleared <0>. Once the device is in Shutdown mode, the CONFIG register needs to be written to again, with bit 0 and bit 7 set <1>.

    While both TCN75A and TMP275 share the same address and bit assignments for the configuration register, it is not clear whether TMP275 can be in shutdown mode initially before triggering one-shot conversions and what would be the ramifications of triggering a one-shot conversion by setting both the OS bit (bit 7) and the SD bit (bit 0) in the configuration register to "1".

    Hi Lignesh,

    This is also how the TMP275 is intended to work. The device should be in shutdown mode before sending OS.
