IWR6843AOPEVM: Running Vital Signs Program with Industrial mmWave Carrier Board

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

I followed the set up manual for this lab, the boards were configured to the proper specifications, and the flash was preformed and displayed the successful message, however, when going to start the program, the GUI terminal presents the following:

The program then displays no data. Is there something that I am missing? Thank you in advance for any help!

  • Hi Ally,

Apologies for the delayed response here. It looks like your data ports are not opening. Can you send me a screen shot of your device manager? and a photo of how your board is connected to the computer?

Please ensure that you are also moving the device into functional mode and pressing reset before starting to use the visualizer.

    Thanks,

    Angie

  • Howdy,

I realized that I had two windows for the visualizer open, I have attached the updated terminal which does show the ports opened. I did make sure the board was in functional mode and rest the the device before running the visualizer. I also added a picture of the set up and a screenshot of the visualizer and the device manager.

  • Hi Ally,

Thank you for sharing all this information! This is super helpful and your setup looks correct, one more question -- are you running the matlab visualizer from the executable or from source code?

Additionally in our latest radar toolbox you will see our Vital Signs with People Tracking lab which is newer and the python visualizer can be easier to get started on.

Also, I just noticed you are a fellow Aggie! Gig 'em Thumbsup

    Thanks,

  • Howdy,

I was able to get the program running! I successfully ran the out of box demo, as well as the people tracking program, and so I went back to the vital signs program, I tried pressing the reset button right before I pressed the start button and it worked! I believe I was originally pressing the reset button to early, which caused the first two commands in the config file to create a fatal error in the visualizer, this was observed in Tera Term (following the instructions here) as the commands were labeled as "unrecognized".

Thank you for all the help!

    Thanks and Gig 'em  Thumbsup:)
