AWR1843: Support for dynamically changing chirp frequencies

Hello,

I'd like to ask about methods of changing the chirp frequency during runtime.

I understand that the AWR1843 provides one such method of cycling through different chirp set parameters using multiple mmWave BSS profiles (max 4, MMWAVE_MAX_PROFILE). However, is there a mode separate from the profiles on the AWR1843 such that the device will cycle through a given set of frequencies?

For instance:

1. Define chirp frequencies (a, b, c, d)
2. Start device. Enable 'frequency_cycling' mode. Supply 'frequency_cycling' config with frequencies in (1).
3. Device automatically switches through frequencies in (1).

Hi Norman,

Yes this will be possible. You will need to use the advance features of the mmWave sensor here for this application. You can use the advance frame feature to achieve your desired implementation, or you may check out dynamic chirp configuration as well. Both are documented in the mmWave DFP user guide and i will request you to go through the document and let me know if you face any issues. You can download the document through our website. Use the 1st gen.

Hi Pradipta,

Thanks for the reply. The advanced frame configuration only allows support for up to 4 different chirp configurations. How would I be able to support cases where I have more than 4?

Hi Norman,

There is no such restriction. It is for sub-frames. They can be max of 4. You can use up to 512 unique chirps in the sub frame.
