IWR6843ISK: LED status is abnormal and PC cannot identify the COM ports

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

This IWR6843ISK  EVM is a new one which i just ordered from TI.com on Feb.22 2023.   And I test it on Mar. 1st

After set the SOP as attateched image, I install the CP210x_Windows_Drivers( download from https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Windows_Drivers.zip)

and I also try  the https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Windows_Drivers.zip, my system is window10 X64) .

Then I  connect  the IWR6843ISK to my PC with USB cable, then I find the LED status is abnormal, Just D6 is green, D3,D4 and D5 are off-status,

and the same time, I cannot find the simulated 2 COM ports on the  Device Manager of my PC.

1、 I am sure the USB cable is good, because I can use it to connect other devices.

2、 I tried different PCs,the problem exist also.

How can I solve this problem? The LED status is abnormal means the EVM has something wrong?

  • Hi,

From the image it looks like your board has screws and washers in it that are touching component packages and touching multiple pins of some components, which could cause shorting. It does appear like the board is damaged form the status LEDs state. If you are within the warranty period of your purchase, you can request a replacement from customer service; however, we do not handle returns in this forum

    Regards,

    Luke

  • Hi, Luke,

Thank you for your suggestion and help. I disassemble the screws, now the status of LEDs is normal and can detect the two COMs.
